University of Ioannina - Rectorate Greeting

Dear Visitor,

It is with great pleasure that we welcome you to the official website of the University of Ioannina. These pages are designed to help you familiarise yourself with the UoI experience and provide all the necessary information on the educational, scientific, research, administrative, and in general, the whole spectrum of activities of the Institution. Additionally, you may explore our website to learn more about the specific academic programmes we offer, as well as the many services we make available for our more than 18.000 students.

For five decades, the University of Ioannina has been committed to the creation and transmission of knowledge, to innovation, and consolidation of cooperations on a regional, local and international level. Since its founding in 1964, the University has become a leading teaching, learning and research institution throughout the country.

Despite the current difficult and challenging economic and social situation in Greece, the prospects of our Institution seem promising. Our faculty members and staff continuing their dedication to enhance student welfare and support, and promote their research and teaching mission, evoke the accomplishments of our past while pointing toward new frontiers of achievement.

Our University prides itself on providing an academic environment which advances the free and open exchange of ideas, cultivates critical judgment and fosters the acquisition of knowledge through free speech, open debate, active participation and dynamic interaction.

Current and new students, will find many resources in these pages to guide your academic studies (undergraduate and postgraduate) and enhance your campus life experiences. Similarly, for faculty and staff, this site provides an overview of our Institution's history, achievements, ongoing activities and cultural events.

With these few words, we welcome you the University of Ioannina and hope that you will gain an insight into its past, present and future through the electronic pages that follow.
