ABSTRACT: In this work, the authors present students’ impressions of a series of open-ended group problem solving exercises that were used with students during an undergraduate chemistry course at King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals (KFUPM). This was the students’ first experience of this approach to problem solving activities. The preliminary results are very promising and call for changes in the way chemistry is taught at KFUPM. [Chem.
