EEFIE Ioannina
Scientific Association of Greek Medical Students
Ioannina branch

Current major branch activities:

  • Student training program on firstaid and resuscitation
  • Survey on Medical education in Greece

Already from the very start of EEFIE, the Ioannina branch was highly active in respect to the association's scientific activities. The first two, organised by the branch, were two conventions in May 1994 and December 1995 titled "Cancer: achievements and prospects" and "The multiple-injury patient". Both received excellent comments from all participants.

4ο Συνέδριο ΕΕΦΙΕin vivo Our branch had also an important scientific participation in all 7 scientific congresses organised by EEFIE, in round tables, presentations and announcements. A peak moment for the branch was April 1998, when we organised the 4th congress here in Ioannina, with great success. We are also part of all other common activities, such as the "Medical Approach to Greek Islands", and the association's magazine, named "In vivo".

On November 1999 we organised a conference, hosted in the Ioannina University Hospital Auditorium, titled "Pre-, post-graduate, and continuous medical education in Greece", which reached some valuable conclusions about the status of medical education in the country. The proceedings of the conference were printed in numerous copies, and were freely distributed among all students in our Medical School.

Our most recent activity is the organisation of a firstaid training program for students in the 4th year and above. Students are trained both in theory and practice, with the help of the National Firstaid Center.

It is worth noting the rich publishing work by EEFIE. Most EEFIE publications are free for our members. Our magazine, "In Vivo", is also free for our members.

But, the most important thing about EEFIE, is that our activities are limited only by our members' imagination - and not only theirs. EEFIE is always open to new ideas and new challenges.
