Research Activities


Research at the University of Ioannina
is carried out in all disciplines covered by the existing Departments. It includes basic and applied research in Technology, Natural and Life Sciences, Archaeological studies and excavations, Literature, Linguistic studies and research in Education Methods. Special emphasis is placed on interdisciplinary projects of applied research, relevant to the Greek industry, economy and society.
Research activities are coordinated by the University Research Committee. Research is funded by the Hellenic Ministry of Education. Large scale projects are financed by the Hellenic Ministry of Development in the form of research contracts. In addition, faculty members and post-doctoral students seek and obtain competitive research contracts from the European Commission, UNESCO, etc. Several projects are carried out in the framework of international cooperations of research teams from the University of Ioannina and other countries both within and outside the European Union .
